In 1933, when prohibition ended, Joe "Kid Bullets" DeGidio — a successful bootlegger with a colorful past — opened DeGidio's Royal Bar at its current location on West 7th Street.

Today, the third and fourth generations of the DeGidio family keeps the tradition alive — serving the same style of generous, scratch-made Italian-American food that's kept this place packed for over 90 years.
